Our Story
Beginning
Just Say It Theater was formed in 2014 by co-Artistic Directors Lynn Goodwin and Dale Dunn to provide young people of Santa Fe the opportunity to experience the magic and power of theater by writing and publicly performing their own collaborative theater pieces.
Creations
Working with students we created productions that include Left to Our Own Devices: Staying Connected in the Digital Age (available from Dramatic Publishing Co.), The Choices We Make, and Borders—Crossing the Line with students from New Mexico School for the Arts, the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and the Santa Fe Indian School. JSIT furthered its mission to bring provocative works to life on stage with Nick Payne’s Constellations (2018), Dale Dunn’s The Big Heartless (2019), and Forces of Nature, two one-acts by Leslie Dillen (Avalanche!) and Dale Dunn (Sworn to Water) (2021).
2021 Forces of Nature
“As I sat through the plays, I kept thinking how we have to hold our breath whenever we are fully submerged. I found myself holding my breath a lot for both [plays].”
“Beautiful, theatrical, surprising. A rare treat.”
2019 The Big Heartless
“The Big Heartless, by Dale Dunn is a fine piece of storytelling perfectly suited for the stage, a phenomenally skillful weaving of all the elements that make for engaging and dramatically gripping theater.”
“Lynn Goodwin’s direction is spot on. The whole ensemble works together in a clockwork concert.”
Talkin’ Broadway
ALWAYS:
Working to bring provocative live theater to our community, keeping in mind the poet Mary Oliver’s question from The Summer Day:
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
2018 Constellations
“The most brilliant play we’ve seen in Santa Fe in the last fifteen years. We were just blown away.”
“The directing was superb. I hope you’re reveling in the success of a packed house.”
“I can’t imagine a more perfect afternoon of theater. This is as good as it gets.”
